You can pick up any needed boating and camping supplies and launch your craft at one of five boat ramps. This campground is ideal for campers traveling with boats or other watercraft because the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center is right across the highway. Jerniman's is a collective campground, restaurant, gas station and golf cart rental business. Tent camping is allowed, and all sites have adequate space for parking. It offers 29 sites, 24 of which can accommodate RVs and campers. The campground is the closest accommodation to the ocean on Ocracoke Island, less than a half-mile shy of the first beach access road. Also on-site is Hart's Hot Dog Hut, open seasonally Tuesday through Sunday from 6 a.m. Enjoy Southern specialties like fried chicken, barbecue, hamburger steak, ribs and more from 4 to 8 p.m. Jerniman's on-site restaurant serves Southern-style cooking for dinner Thursday through Saturday nights. Reservations can be made online, and be sure to check their website for their list of fun events happening all year round. Adding to the convenience factor is a grocery store and hardware store right next to the campground. A communal laundry, bathhouse and dumping station are also on site.
